We talk to Fred Perpall about his journey from growing up in Nassau, Bahamas, to becoming the 67th President of the USGA. Fred, who is the CEO of the Beck Group, an international architecture and construction firm, came to the game a bit later in the life, but having been bitten by the bug, he brings great passion and leadership to the game. We talk about a number of recent USGA developments, including anchor sites, the new Adaptive Open, the enhancements that have been made to the US Women’s Open, the USGA’s collaboration with the Los Angeles Country Club and the SCGA regarding the development of the Maggie Hathaway golf facility in conjunction with this year’s US Open at LACC, and the recently proposed model local rule regarding the reduced distance golf ball.
